―What is your current job?
My main task is to support the sales team. Specifically, for new products that sales want to handle, I conduct market research, select sales routes, make appointments for meetings, participate in meetings with the person in charge, and sometimes even carry out sales promotions. In my career so far, new development has been my main job, so even if the product is different, the way of working is basically the same. I think it’s a job where I can utilize the connections and know-how I’ve cultivated things so far.
―What is the reward of working at HighChem?
I used to run a company, so I’m very interested in the fact that HighChem continues to grow at a pace beyond imagination.
One big feature of HighChem that I discovered is that even if there is a big challenge or problem, there is no idea of giving up. Everyone only looks in the direction to do it from the perspective of what should be done to make it successful. I think that makes it an interesting company.
HighChem is full of young people who are lively and powerful. What I can do for such young people is not only to teach them the procedures and know-how of work, but also to convey a more fundamental “philosophy”.
Sales work is not just about buying and selling. What is especially needed is “selling oneself”, in other words, winning trust. However, unless you work with a philosophy, you cannot gain trust and people will not grow. If people don’t grow, the company won’t grow either.
I believe the role of senior employees is to convey the core principles that they have built over a long time as businessmen to the younger generation.
― What do you want to challenge yourself with in the future?
I think one of the reasons why young people want to stay in this company is how many people they want to become or aim to be. I hope I can be such a person for the young employees of HighChem.
